Sunday Summary

ROW80LogocopyWriting: Wrote 4,323 words in Autumn Ember, a retelling of Cinderella. Did a final read-through of The Beltane Key. It had some formatting issues, but hopefully those are resolved. I think it’s ready to be uploaded! Did some edits to Silver’s Stray, a short story, and sent it to a beta reader. I have her comments back and need to dig into those after I did a final read-through of The Faerie Key. Goals for the upcoming week:

  • Final read-through of The Faerie Key
  • Revise Silver’s Stray.
  • Finish a first draft of Autumn Ember.
  • Possibly start After the Tower, a Rapunzel retelling that’s been rattling around in my brain for ages.

Reading: Read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which was amazing (not surprisingly). Read Taming the Dragon by Kendra Leigh Castle, which wasn’t bad, although I thought the other stories I read by her were better. And I read Under a New Year’s Enchantment by Barbara Monajem, and loved it. I’m not even sure read is the right word. I devoured it.

Life: The kitchen and dining room are painted! They just needed a fresh coat of paint to brighten things up, and the rooms look so much better, fresher and more cheerful. Took a few short walks, but no real exercise this week. Lazy, I know.

What about you? How are your writing goals coming along? What did you read this week? Have you done any home improvements this summer—or do you have any planned for the fall?

  1. Sounds like you’ve got a great handle on things – and a fresh paint job, too!

My goals are coming along. I’m still easing out of the four-month-creative marathon, and wrapping up some things that need to be tended, and dipping into things set aside during the surge….

      1. It was intense. It started in April, with CampNaNoWriMo and Blogging from A-Z. In May, there was Story A Day. Then JuNoWriMo (50K in a month), then wrapped up with a 55,555K July Camp NaNo goal…

I need some lighter, puttering around time now. Good thing I have an array of lighter, less intensive projects to play with. =)

I need some time to recharge, because I’ve got another three-month surge coming in September, although this one won’t be quite as intense as the previous one.

      2. The next one will have a bit more variety – first fan fiction, then poetry, then noveling (epic fantasy.)

I might be slightly mad, but I’m really starting to look forward to it! =D

  2. I have one goal this month: to write a new short story and send it to another blogger for critiquing. I have scenes saved on my phone. I just need to write a complete draft. That may be harder to do because I don’t always have my laptop around. I think I need to schedule time to write, preferably when everyone’s asleep. I’ll let you know how it works out.

    1. That’s an awesome goal. Good luck! A short story in a month is a solid goal, and realistic, too. I find writing at night definitely helps my productivity–fewer distractions. I hope you’re able to carve out the time you need. Let me know how it goes!
