Sunday ROW80 check-in

For those of you who saw my post on Wednesday, my dog, Angel, is back at home after spending a few days on an IV at the vet’s office. She seems to have improved and has a follow-up check-up tomorrow. Thank you to everyone for all of the well wishes and positive energy you sent our way!

This week was, well, chaos, but I’m looking forward to kicking it into a higher gear in the weeks ahead.

This week’s check-in…

Writing goals

1.) I have a long list of projects I’m currently working on, so I’m just going to make this first goal “make measurable progress on one of my WIPs.” This week I finished a read-through of “Stolen by Magic.” Not a whole lot of progress, but I’ll take it.

2.) Read two books on the craft/business of writing. No progress to report.

Social media goals

1.) Check in on Twitter or Facebook daily. Met for every day except Monday.

2.) Blog twice a week. Blogged three times.

3.) Comment on three-five blog posts daily, Monday-Thursday. Met for every day except Monday.

Life goals

1.) Do yoga or tai chi or meditate three times per week. 3/3—Technically, two of those were pilates, but I’m going to go ahead and count those.

2.) Do something related to volunteer work or spiritual practice at least once a week. Attended a ritual on Sunday, emailed to inquire about volunteering at the local food pantry.

3.) Do morning pages in journal Monday-Friday. Done for three of five days.

A Round of Words in 80 Days, founded by author Kait Nolan, is the writing challenge that knows you have a life. It’s also a blog hop! Click here to see other participants’ goals for the current round.

  1. I hadn’t heard about Angel, but I’m wishing her a speedy return to perfect health!

It sounds like you’re doing well – the first week of a new round seems to always be a ‘feeling things out’ time for me, even without factoring in canine emergencies!

Looking forward to seeing how you do this round.

    1. Thanks, Shan Jeniah. I’m definitely still trying to find some direction this round, balancing new stories with those that need to be revised, settling back into my routine, that sort of thing.

      Have a great week!

  2. I hadn’t seen about Angel, but I’m so happy things are going well for her. Lots of good thoughts and positive energy your way.

I think you did very well despite having a crazy week. I hope things keep going well for you.

    1. Thanks, Gloria. Yeah, last week was a little scary, but now that she’s home things are settling down a bit. I’m hoping I can really dig into a story this week. Have a wonderful week!

  3. So glad Angel is doing better! Fingers crossed that the follow-up visit goes well. Have you already chosen your 2 writing craft/business books to read this round? I just finished reading Why Does My Book Not Sell? by Rayne Hall. Had some good tips in it. Geared toward self-pubbing authors who already have at least 1 book out, though, so dunno if that applies to you. Also like your yoga/tai chi/meditation goal. I didn’t include physical fitness in my ROW80 goals this round, but I’m doing tai chi 2x/wk and am about to start kickboxing 1-2x/wk. Can’t wait to kick/punch things! =*) Hope you have a productive week!

    1. The follow-up appointment went well, so that was good news. I’m currently reading “Let’s Get Digital” by David Gaughran and am enjoying it. It’s geared toward writers who are thinking of self-publishing.

Kick-boxing sounds like fun! Good luck and have a great week!

  4. Hi Denise! So sorry to be late to the party. This week started off crazy and continues to do so. lol. Aw, what can I say? How is Angel doing? I hope she keep making good progress. Taking care of a pet can take a lot of you time too. Glad to see that you’re making most of your goals. Even though you’ve had so many other things try to derail you. Awesome! I hope this week gets better for you! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Karen. She’s definitely improving. The vet told us Angel is “one lucky lady,” so we are definitely counting our blessings and so grateful to have her back home with us and doing well. The last couple weeks have been crazy, but I’m trying to get back on track. Thanks for stopping by and commenting! 🙂
