I’m posting these a few days late, but here they are: my goals for 2014’s final round of A Round of Words in 80 Days. It’s been an amazing year, my first writing full time. I’ve finished four projects so far (two drafts of a novella and first drafts of two novelettes and a short story) and am aiming to finish a fifth before the end of the year. I hope to start submitting next year, so that means there’s plenty of revising in my future. 🙂
In the meantime, here are my goals for this round:
Writing goals:
1.) Finish a first draft of novella/novelette “Haunted Kisses.”
2.) Finish a second draft of novelette “Called by Magic.”
3.) Do a read-through of “Good Old-Fashioned Magic,” make necessary edits, and send to critique partners.
4.) Read three books on the craft/business of writing.
Social media goals:
1.) Check in on Twitter or Facebook daily.
2.) Blog twice a week.
3.) Comment on three to five blogs per day, Monday-Thursday.

What about you? What are your goals for this round, writing or otherwise?
I love these goals; clear, concise and measurable. I look forward to learning more about your progress as the round develops. Consider me part of your cheerleading team 🙂
I find if I give myself goals that are measurable, I’m better able to see my progress–and thus more likely to follow through. Thanks! 🙂
I’m totally with you there 😉
My main goal is to finish the current WIP and prove to myself that yes, I can write and finish a longer, coherent story. So, y’know, no biggie.. 🙂
Congratulations on your first year of full-time writing! Here’s to continued success!
That’s a great goal. I think of Heinlein’s rules of writing. The first two are write, and finish what you start. Finishing a manuscript is a big step. I wish you lots of luck.
Thanks!
I love your goals! So specific and clear. I love that you added your social media goals, too. And kudos to you for making the choice to write full time. Congratulations on your progress so far!
Thanks! I’m an introvert by nature, so sometimes I’d rather hole up and read and write than put myself out there. Listing my social media goals keeps me accountable and gets me out into the wide, wide world. Choosing to write full time–especially since I’m not yet published–was a big step, but I’m happy that I can do what I love every day. It’s been a great journey so far.
Congratulations on living the dream of a full-time writer! That is awesome. And best of luck on your goals and seeing all that hard work come to fruition.
Thanks! It’s been an exciting year. I can feel myself growing as a writer, and that’s an awesome feeling. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
Great goals! Best of luck, and I look forward to following along. 🙂
Thanks, Kristen!
