The arrival of autumn and a ROW80 Round 3 wrap-up

fall arrangement 1229576_97847309It’s officially autumn, the season of pumpkin spice lattes, brisk breezes, warm sweaters, and Jack-o-lanterns. Fall always makes me want to curl up with a good book and a cup of tea, as the days grow shorter, the evenings longer, and the leaves more colorful with each passing day.

And with the arrival of autumn comes the end of another round of A Round of Words in 80 Days, the writing challenge that knows you have a life. Round 3 turned out to be quite productive for me. Here’s the tally:

  • Finished a second draft of my novella “Good Old-Fashioned Magic.”
  • Finished first drafts of two novelettes, “Called by Magic” and “When Magic Knocks.”
  • Read five books on the craft of writing. My goal was four, so I exceeded my target.

How did Round 3 go for you? Did you meet your goals? And what’s your favorite part of autumn?

  1. My favorite thing about fall? Both my kids were born in fall. Monday is the girl’s birthday and Halloween is the boy’s. If I have a third kid and (s)he isn’t born in fall, it will feel weird.

Congrats on all the hard work! I hope to see you in Round 4!

  2. I am just blogging about Autumn too today! I love the foliage changing colour. Also, the crisp mornings, and pumpkin spice coffee (just coffee).

It was a very good Round 3. I did not get some things accomplished that I had wanted to, but I got some excellent habits started, journaling and daily writing times. Also, I did get a couple small drafts for stories completed and Crying Mascara edited. Round 4 will be about editing what I have written and cleaning up some other older works. Still planning on writing new stuff, as the muse strikes. NaNoWriMo is coming up and I have my October writing projects, OctPoWriMo and my own Book to Movie reviews this coming month. Oh, and the theatre projects…yeah, never a dull moment with me.

See you in Round 4, Denise! 🙂

    • Sounds like you’re going to have a busy autumn. I live in the mountains, so watching the leaves change is always wonderful. My hubby and I will go for a few drives just to take in the colorful foliage. Good luck with your upcoming projects, both writing and theatrical. 🙂

  3. Let’s hear it for autumn! Yay! My favorite season. Although in SoCal we are still waiting for the change in season. The temp could drop another ten degrees and you wouldn’t hear me complain. Way to rock the fall Denise! Keep up the writing! 🙂
